Sizing
Hats should fit to your head. Most designs from Designing Fibers are meant to fit snug. Please measure the circumference of your head at the level at which you wish the bottom edge of the cap to fit. For many, this is over the ears, too.
Scarves and shawls need to be long or short enough to match your size and build. Please send the dimensions in length and width so that we may customize to your size. Cost will be determined by the size (width and length) and complexity of the design.
Sweater sizes are the actual measurement of the finished sweater. Many people have bodies that don't fit perfectly with into standard sizes. That's no problem at Designing Fibers. Each sweater is custom made, so adjustments can be easily made.
The measurements crucial to sweater fit are the length and width of the body and the length from the nape of your neck to the cuff. Take these measurements from your own favorite sweater of the same weight as the sweater you are ordering. Lay it out flat on a bed or other large flat surface, but don't stretch it. Measure across the widest part of the body below the armholes. Measure the length of the back from below the neck ribbing to the bottom of the sweater. Measure the Length of the sleeve from the underarm to the end of the sleeve. Adjust your measurements as needed to create your perfect sweater. These are the only measurements required, though you may wish to include others. If you provide your favorite sweater, we will do the measuring.
Many other style changes are also possible. For instance, you may want an unusually small armhole depth so you can wear the sweater under your favorite blazer or maybe you want to change the neckline to a V-neck. Some people like a short V, others want a long V to allow easy access to a shirt pocket. Others want a cardigan made into a pullover. You can have whatever you want! Just ask! Don't worry if you are unsure of what you need. Orders that are not crystal clear will be questioned until we are both sure that your new sweater will be everything you imagined.
