Fiber Workshops
Do you need some action demonstrations at your llama or alpaca conference? A workshop for fiber enthusiasts? Guild meeting?
Fran works with fiber daily. She has hands on experience with camelid fiber of all types and is willing to share her expertise in fun, hands-on activities. We can plan to meet your needs, from on the llama fiber consulting to shearing, preparing for fleece shows or processing, washing, carding, all the way through to a finished product. Maybe you need help with fixing a project error? Well, give us a call. It can be fixed - or, finished.
Choose from the following:
Farm consultation - Evaluate the fiber on your herd - whether large or small, schedule a farm visit to give positive hints, suggestions, and grading of the fleeces on your llamas. Fran is an ALSA fleece judge and has had great experience with Walking Fiber, shorn fleeces, and handcrafted items. Ali is an ALSA Fleece Apprentice, waiting until she is 21 to become official. Both have completed both the ALSA educational clinics for llama fleece judging and Terry Duespohl's Fleece clinic for halter judges. Sugar River Llamas has several llamas whose fleeces have won Championships, as shorn fleeces and/or natioanl futurities. Learn what it takes to have quality fiber.
Want to send your fiber to fiber pools or for commercial processing? Invite us to spend time with you and your friends skirting fleeces. We'll bring the skirting table, or give instructions on how to build one. Several commercial processors can be recommended.

We've worked with large groups, at llama conferences, 4-H and FFA project groups, and consulted with leaders starting their own groups.
Fran is willing to play with fiber, if you are! Design a fun filled day or weekend for your llama or alpaca friends.
