Pictured is the New Age Combo, dual power Roberta Electronic Spinner.  The combo has a unique slide instead of hooks, making it easier to create fine yarns and yet feed the yarn evenly on the bobbin.  The combo also has a larger flyer and one jumbo bobbin.
It is easy to use.  Enjoy  the wonderful world of spinning without the ankle strain to treadle.  This little spinner creates yarns which vary from gossamer to heavy weight yarns.  Plying has never been easier than when using a Roberta.  "Hand spun" does not mean "foot powered."  The joy of spinning is still yours!

This electronic spinner, made by Ertoel, is nearly silent and efficient.  Adjustable speed control, up to 1200 rps, forward and reverse, and has a 5/8" orifice.  Beautifully made from dark Tasmanian myrtle.  The combo is available with two options:  Single power or dual power.  The standard power can be used with standard household current (120 volts), while the dual power combo can be used with household current (120 volts) or plug it into your car or a battery (12 volt).  Combo model includes 2 standard bobbins and 1 jumbo bobbin, weighs only 12 lbs. and is easily transported. Dimensions: 8 1/2" high by 10 1/2" wide and 11" deep.  10-year warranty on the electric motor; one year warranty on everything else.   Also available are standard or dual power Jumbo Roberta Spinners with 3 jumbo bobbins.

How you operate the Roberta:  There are three controls on all models: On/Off, forward/reverse and a speed control knob. For spinning you would normally set the wheel to forward and then turn it on. You will adjust the speed as you begin spinning to achieve the yarn twist you require. For the remainder of the time you are spinning, there will be no need to adjust the speed. To stop spinning you turn the wheel off.
Plug in pause control!   The operator can choose to use the plug in pause control, or the switch on the base of the spinner.  With the pause control plugged in, it over rides the circuits and cuts the power only when the pedal is pressed.   All Roberta spinners from Sugar River Handknits will now have the capacity to use the plug in foot control, and are included in the Roberta packages.
The pause control works in the following manner: The pause control acts as an on/off switch only. It is set to the "on" position all the time, meaning your wheel is operating. If you want to temporarily turn your wheel off, just push the switch with your foot or knee and hold it. When you remove your foot/knee the wheel begins to spin again. Such a switch allows you to start and stop spinning without having to use your hand or the on/off switch that is on the wheel. This switch is not a speed control; a speed control is unnecessary with this design feature of the Roberta. When you have finished spinning, you must turn off the wheel by using the switch on the wheel.  At this time, all Roberta's are sold with the pause control.  If you have purchased a Roberta, in the past, without a pause control, it can still be installed.
